DODD CITY -- Only four points separated Class 1A Dodd City last March from advancing to the State Boys' Basketball Tournament.

It took eventual 1A State champion Graford in Mansfield to stop the Hornets who produced their deepest postseason advance -- in a decade -- by reaching the Region III-1A final.

While another postseason trip hasn't been assured yet for Dodd City, the state-ranked Hornets have started off well in defending their 2022 District 23-1A title - their first championship since 2019.

District play thus far has included these wins: at Fannindel, 64-35; versus Savoy, 75-23.
