Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets bounced back into the win column in a big way with a five-inning, 12-2 win over the Wolfe City Wolves.

The Hornets led 2-1 after the first inning, increased their lead to 5-2 after two innings and then scored the next seven runs in the game to notch a 12-2 victory and move to 12-2 on the year and 9-2 in district.

Logan Lackey pitched a two-hitter and struck out 8 to get the win. Lackey aided his own cause with a 2-for-2 day swinging the bat, scored twice and drove in a team-high four runs.

Nick Glover also had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3, scoring three times and driving in two runs.

Logan Vaught, Ashton Balvin, Ethan Barnard and Aydan Balvin all had one hit apiece.

Connor Adams got the start for Wolfe City, but gave up five hits and six runs in 2.1 innings. Chris Herron came on in relief and gave up five runs in 1.1 innings. Nick Bowles took the mound with one out in the fifth frame and gave up one run.

The Hornets next action will be a varsity-only game in Wolfe City on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
