Dodd City Hornets fall to Bryson in area round

Gainesville, Texas -- Another exciting season of playoff baseball for the Dodd City Hornets came to an end in a three-run loss to the Bryson Cowboys in the area round.

Neither team could light up the scoreboard in the first two innings.

Bryson broke the scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning, but Dodd City responded with two runs in the top of the fourth frame to make it a 2-2 game.

Bryson pulled in front, 3-2, in the bottom of the fifth and then the Cowboys tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning.

Dodd City was scoreless in the top of the seventh giving Bryson a 5-2 win.

Caysen Lappin had two hits for Dodd City, scored once and drove in a run. Weldon Garner had one hit.

Bryson advances to face the winner of Ector/Perrin-Whitt in the regional semifinals.
